A Hurricane Watch is issued when there is the threat
of hurricane conditions within 24-36 hours.

A Hurricane Warning is issued when hurricane conditions
(winds of 74 miles per hour or more, or dangerously
high water and rough seas) are expected in 24 hours
or less.

Many automobiles will float in just two feet of
water.
- The
average car can be swept off the road in 12 inches
of moving water.

The average person can be swept off their feet in
six inches of moving water.

Hurricane flooding can happen hundreds of miles
from the coast and can place homes, not affected
by the strongest winds, in danger.
