Each year, more than 300 adults and children drown
in home pools.

In the Sunbelt, drowning is the leading cause of
accidental death in the home for children under
five years old.
- According
to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission,
approximately 39,500 people go to the emergency
room for injuries involving in-ground pools; 10,000
for injuries related to above-ground pools.

While it takes two minutes for an adult to drown,
a child can drown in only 20 seconds.

Most pool-related injuries result from slipping
and/or falling.
